Design & Construction of a new bridge over the Murrumbidgee River, demolition of the existing bridge & realignment of approach roads.
The Mundarlo Bridge Replacement project aims to provide the following benefits.
· Ability to accommodate higher environmental flows
· Less overtopping in times of higher environmental flows, and unplanned natural high flows, resulting in less disruption to local communities
· Less servicing and maintenance of new infrastructure
· Less maintenance/clean-up costs as higher flows will overtop the bridge less frequently
· Improved safety and traffic flow for cars, farm machinery and trucks
The project will upgrade the existing one-lane bridge to a two-lane bridge with capacity to accommodate heavy vehicles, including farm machinery and B-double trucks. It is anticipated the new bridge will be approximately 110m long and will be situated just upstream of the existing bridge.
A summary of the scope for the delivery of Mundarlo Bridge construction is outlined below:
Mundarlo Bridge Replacement
· Construction of a new, 2-lane, heavy-duty bridge over the Murrumbidgee River on Tenandra Road, with an optimal design height datum that provides value for money
· Demolition and removal of the existing bridge
· Realignment and reconstruction of the approach roads
