The NSW Department of Education’s Schools Spectacular is a high-profile performing arts event involving the participation of over 6,000 public school children and young people.
The annual two-day event is staged at Qudos Bank Arena on the last Friday and Saturday in November. It comprises matinee and evening performances, attracts arena audiences of 25,000 people and is recorded for a televised broadcast nationally.
The objective is to provide an individual or organisation capable of developing the specifications for the audio requirements of and providing audio production services for, the Schools Spectacular live arena production and subsequent television broadcast, whilst working closely with the Department’s Schools Spectacular Production team
It is anticipated that the planning as outlined in the scope will commence as soon as the successful respondent is contracted.
The Supplier will work under the direction of the Executive Producer, the Technical Producer and the Arena Production Manager
The scope of work for The Audio Director is to:
· Design an audio system for the arena production, the subsequent television broadcast within budget.
· When required, write the audio specifications to send to potential suppliers for quotation purposes.
· Participate in the evaluation of quotations received for supply of audio system.
· Provide guidance in the selection of the audio equipment supplier.
· Provide CAD drawings of the audio design to the technical production team and Department.
· Attend pre-production meetings and rehearsals as required including sitzprobe rehearsals held prior to show week
· Be across all aspects of the bump in and installation of the sound system.
· Supervise the audio team during any possible pre-rig, production week, sound checks, technical checks and final rehearsals.
· Lead the audio team during the production week.
· Liaise and interface with the television audio director as required.
· Provide expertise in the development of the audio mix for television.
· Coordinate, supervise and produce the broadcast audio mix including the final Mastering prior to broadcast in consultation with the Arena Producer, Music Producer and Broadcast Audio Director.
· Liaise and interface with the music team as required.
· Attend post event evaluation.
