Australia provides tertiary scholarships for Filipinos to study in Australia through the global Australia Awards program. These prestigious awards augment the Philippine education system, providing additional knowledge and technical skills to meet the development challenges confronting the country. Scholarships are awarded to applicants from diverse backgrounds, enabling strong equity of access across genders and for people with disability, in rural and remote locations, and from ethnically diverse and minority groups. Australia-educated alumni use the skills, knowledge, and networks gained in Australia to contribute to sustainable development in the Philippines and meet the critical needs of the Philippine Government. The Australia Awards Philippines (AAP) investment will support the selection, mobilisation and re-integration of Filipino Australia Award recipients. The investment will also support short courses, fellowships and learning visits, and facilitate ongoing engagement between Australia and Australian-educated Filipino alumni. AAP will strengthen bilateral cooperation by fostering people-to-people and institutional links between Australia and the Philippines.
